Korea Electric Power Corporation or KEPCO operates as a holding company engaged in the development of electric power resources including electric power generation, transmission, transformation, and distribution, as well as related marketing, research, technological development, overseas business, and investments. The company is engaged in power generation using nuclear power, thermal power, new/ renewable power sources including hydroelectric power, oil and LNG. In addition, KEPCO owns and operates mines producing bituminous coal business, uranium, CNG, shale gas and coal terminals. The company also uses feedstock for power generation. KEPCO expanded its business portfolio in overseas transmission and distribution through electric power sources including countries like Myanmar, Philippines, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Libya, Ghana, Ukraine, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Egypt, Azerbaijan, West Africa, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan. The company purchases its electric power from Korea Power Exchange, a non-profit organization regulating power transmission and distribution as well as management of the power market. KEPCO is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. The company was incorporated in 1961.
