Ultrapar Participacoes S.A. was established in 1953, headquartered in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Ultrapar is one of the largest business groups in Brazil, operating in the fuel distribution sector through Ipiranga and Ultragaz, in the specialty chemicals industry with Oxiteno, in the segment of storage for liquid bulk through Ultracargo and in the retail pharmaceutical sector through Extrafarma. With a staff of about 13,000 employees, Ultrapar has operations throughout the Brazilian territory and through Oxiteno it has industrial units in the United States, Uruguay, Mexico and Venezuela and commercial offices in Argentina, Belgium, China and Colombia. In 1999 it was listed simultaneously on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange and on the New York Stock Exchange.
